2/26/2021 week of Mar. 1 - mar. 5, 2021With the exciting news that K-2 will be starting back in hydrid learning on March 3rd, we will no longer have buses to help us deliver supplies to students. All classroom supplies and library books will need to be picked up in the office. Attention all Latinx students: Starting March 10th we will be hosting La Chispa event virtually. La Chispa is an event for bilingual students to have conversations on leadership, building self-identity and positive academic goals. Usually, this event is a one-day trip to a high school but this year it will be divided into 4 sessions. We would love for you to join us and be part of great conversations. Please register by March 3rd in the link below or contact Ms. Jannes Martinez, Family Engagement at [email protected]. The first 10 students that register will win a prize!! Only about half of our students have classes that need physical supplies at this time. Starting next week, only the families who need physical supplies will be sent announcements and reminders. On our website is a list of the specific classes that need supplies listed on our website so families can confirm if they have supplies waiting for them. If you have any questions, please call the office. All Grades & Last Names: February 8th from 11:30am to 3:00pm February 9th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm Black History Month Newsletter: You can view the newsletter here and on our website. I-Ready Winter Diagnostic: On February 8th, students will be asked to spend their afternoon Independent Learning time taking the Winter iReady Diagnostic. This is a similar process to what they did in the fall and scores will be used as a benchmark to measure growth throughout this year. This diagnostic is not a high stakes test, but it is a great opportunity for us to see where students strengths and growth areas are. For more information about iReady testing at home, please click here. The testing day is a Monday. On February 8th, students will be taking the reading diagnostic. Students will attend classes at their normal times but will not be assigned any class specific homework on those days so they can focus on the diagnostic in the afternoon. Near the end of 6th period, teachers will provide directions for taking the test and helpful reminders in case students need a refresher. If students run in to issues logging in they can reach out to Ms. Thomsen at [email protected] or Mr. Sites at [email protected]. Thank you for your help as we administer this while students are at home.
